I do NOT care for the ink in this pen. It's thick for a 0.5mm and it has
occasion to skip. I do, however, love the physical pen body. The cap is adorable
and allows for easy on-book clipping. I switched the Pilot refill for a Uni-ball
Signo 0.38mm and haven't looked back yet.
I will admit, I have been a Pilot fangirl for a very long time. It wasn't until
I became bored with my typical Pilots that I decided to venture out. And boy am
I glad I did! I will admit without reserve that I am very quickly becoming a
complete fan of the Signo line. I've never been a big fan of needle points and
was slightly disappointed that the smallest non-needle point offered by Pilot
was a 0.38. After branching out to other manufacturers, though, I'm finding
plenty of alternatives. Now if only I could make a UM-151 fit my Pilot
Polkadots! I will admit, I'm a bit biased because I ADORE polka dots... But I
think I would still like this pen if it didn't have polka dots. First and
foremost, the refills will only live a short time - they are tiny! The slide
mechanism for selecting the refill that you like isn't the most durable; it
feels like it would break after just a few clicks. (Though, mine has held up -
so maybe it just FEELS that way.)
Overall.. for the cuteness factor, I would rate this pen a 5/5. Unfortunately,
the plastic body makes it feel as if it will not last long enough to truly enjoy
the cute polka dots. I won't be purchasing a second body, but I will happily let
this pen live on my desk (rather than die in my "pen drawer").
I love the physical design of this pen! Unfortunately, I'm not a fan of the
0.5mm ink refill. I love Uni-ball's Signo line and I'm hoping with a bit of work
I can combine the Signo refill with this adorable pen body.
I love thin points, but unfortunately this 0.3mm ballpoint was just too scratchy
for me. The pen is cute, but very light-weight. It feels cheaply made. Despite
the negatives that I listed, it was a fun to experience a needle ballpoint pen!
Now that I've gotten that out of the way, my next confession is: I LOVE THIS
I have tried the Pilot Frixion line before (in 0.7mm), and absolutely despised
the gray-ish "black" pen. I needed a couple of dollars more to bump my ink
refill order up to the $25 threshold to get the free shipping, so I reluctantly
selected this pen. I am so glad I did!
The ink - while still not the blackest - is adequate. The ink lays a very nice
fine line. I still find that the eraser is in a curious place. Seeing as how I
post my cap when I write, I find it bothersome to have to remove the posted cap
in order to erase anything. Despite this placement blunder, otherwise, I love
the design of the pen. Despite not opting for the Business-ready design, I find
the clean black body with nicely utilized typography to be quite appealing.
While I won't be reaching for this pen as often as I do my Cavaliers, I will
definitely be giving this pen a try here and there.
For those reluctant to give erasable pens a try, I encourage you to give this
one a try. For those of you that love erasable pens- Why haven't you already
tried this one?!
I actually ordered this refill accidentally... But I'm glad I did! I'm a huge
fan of Pilot's G2 line, and this refill just happens to be the same dimensions.
So, now, I'm able to have a wonderfully smooth ball point refill inside the
familiar Pilot G2 wrapper.
I am typically more of a Gel Girl, but I really enjoy this ball point refill. It
writes smooth, while still maintaining a fine (0.5mm) line.
**I can confirm that this refill fits Pilot G2, Pilot G2 Limited, Pilot Dr. Grip
Gel, Pilot Hi-Tec-C Cavalier, Pilot Precise V5 RT, Pilot B2P. I imagine that it
will fit any pen that takes the Pilot G2 refill.
I love this pen!! I was hesitant to pay the $ for a capped pen. (I tend to
prefer retractable pens, and didn\'t bat an eyelash at paying $ for the G2
Limited.) However, upon receiving this pen, it has quickly become my favorite.
Though I enjoy the supplied 0.4 needle point ink cartridge that is supplied, I
preferred my 0.38 G2 refill, which fits in the Cavalier perfectly. I switched
the 0.4 Hi-Tec-C refill to my Dr. Grip Gel, and both seem like a better fit this
I really wish that the Cavalier came in a gray color (similar to my G2 Limited
and Dr. Grip Gel - I like consistency), but the silver is nice.
I don't use pencils often, but when I do it is a Pentel Twist Erase III 0.5.
I've stood by this brand of pencil for about 5 years, and have yet to be
disappointed. However, during my first order from JetPens, I decided to try out
a pencil from one of my all-time favorite manufacturers: Pilot.
The pencil feels nice in my hand. The shaker mechanism adds a bit of weight to
the pencil (something that the Pentel always had over most mechanical pencils).
The face of the clip looks a bit plain (I'm accustom to such wide clips offering
a home for the label), but definitely tolerable. When I write with a pencil, I
am prepared to make multiple mistakes and employ the eraser to rectify those
mistakes. In that sense, I would prefer a larger eraser that isn't capped, but
it certainly isn't a deal-breaker for me.
Post-purchase, I had wished I'd selected the pink-bodied version. Upon arrival,
I'm ecstatic that I selected the white body- it's beautiful!
I'm not completely convinced this pencil will replace my trusty Pentel, but the
Pentel will certainly have to learn to share the spotlight.
