These pens actually improved my otherwise atrociously illegible and embarrassing handwriting! Didn't think that was possible! I find the 0.5 nib hits the sweet spot. Not too thin so as to be scratchy and not to broad to be messy. My theory: the fine nib slows down the hand to allow more control over the handwriting, otherwise the hand slops all over the paper contributing to sloppy handwriting. Wish Pilot would make a 0.5 blue refill for the Cavalier! I have several 'go to' pens I use daily but this one tops the list. I agree with the comment that experimentation is needed with different nib sizes from the various brands because 0.5 for one brand is not the same as 0.5 from another brand. At least that's my experience.

Pilot does not make a 0.5 refill for this pen. I've already asked. The refills from the disposable range, I think, will not fit into this pen as the sizes are different. That's why I asked the question if anyone else is interested in a 0.5 refill so as to hopefully coax Pilot into making them if enough people ask for them and it becomes worthwhile for Pilot to make them. Personally, I think the demand is there, it's just that either Pilot don't realise it or just don't want to manufacture them for whatever reason! I think it's the latter.

I've tried the 0.4 and 0.5 Hi-Tec-C in the disposable version. I found the 0.4 to be a bit on the scratchy side but the 0.5 is still fine enough without the scratchiness.
I want to upgrade to Cavalier but it seems that a 0.5 blue refill is not available. Would anyone else be interested in a 0.5 refill for the Cavalier?
Just putting it out there in the hope that demand may induce supply.
