I am very fond of Japanese office products. Often when I visited Japan and certainly when I lived there for extended periods, I would come back to the US with a stash of new things: small staplers, notebooks, mechanical pencils, pencil cases, etc..

This twist eraser aroused my curiosity and has a number of positive features. It is compact. It erases cleanly. Refills are available. It is not absurdly expensive. I suppose if I wanted to attach it to something the strap might be useful. I make too many mistakes to want to bother attaching and detaching an eraser. Do I regret that I bought it? No. Would I buy another one? Probably not. Although it is compact, this is only because it is short. It is about as big around as a more "conventional" eraser stick. I don't find the level of control over what I erase to be as good as with a Sanford Tuff Stuff Eraser Stick. The Tuff Stuff Eraser is tapered at the tip (like a mechanical pencil) so you can actually see where the eraser is, unlike with this one where the holder/case tends to obscure where the actual eraser and the many corners are. I don't own one yet, but the Tombow Mono Zero line is what seems to come closest to the Sanford eraser. For more extensive erasing I prefer the Rotring Tikky Eraser which advances the eraser stick and at least used to be made in Japan. The Pentel Clic Eraser series has one version that has a flat metal case with a rectangular eraser that is useful for erasing ink, but might fit some pencil erasers with a similar form factor.

So, not a bad product by any means, but perhaps too much on the cute novelty side for me and not quite as well suited to my own needs as other products on the market, and other products available at this site.
