I decided to start out...

I decided to start out with J. Herbin's inks due to their non-toxic ingredients
and wash-ability. (As a beginning fountain pen user, if my pens leak I want to
make sure I can get the staining out.) After trying out Eclat de Saphir, I'm
staying for the wonderful quality ink!
This is a deep, saturated blue that flows really smoothly through my pens.
There is some variation in color between the pens- the extra-fine makes the ink
look a lot lighter than my italic nib. But both are a recognizably true blue.
The ink behaves very well even on cheap paper in the extra fine, but bled
through my really ultra cheap Mead notebook. I haven't had any trouble on copy
paper, so I think it's just that notebook is extraordinarily bad (even
ballpoints bleed through it.) My Mead Graph paper notebook, however, shows no
bleed-through and minimal show-through. Overall, I've been very satisfied with
the ink's performance on paper.
The ink is also easy to clean from my pens and has left no staining. Although I
manage to get it on my hands somewhere every time I refill without fail, the ink
washes off with a bit of scrubbing and is completely gone in a few hours.
Jetpens shipped the ink to me well wrapped and in very good condition. I have
been very happy with their service and Herbin's product, so I'm ordering some
Perle Noire to act as my black ink. I'm a very happy customer!
