These traditional Japanese watercolors were designed for professional artists and crafters, but they can be enjoyed by novices and experts alike. The non-toxic, water-based paints are lightfast and ideal for sketching, illustration, sumi-e, cards, and more! Each watercolor block comes in an individual tray that can be removed from the palette during use. The underside of the box lid features a color chart that you can fill in yourself using the actual watercolors so that you can see exactly how they will appear when used.

This palette contains 24 colors: Black (No. 20), Burnt Sienna (No. 46), Cadmium Scarlet (No. 31), Cadmium Yellow (No. 43), Cobalt Violet (No. 139), Indigo (No. 67), Hooker's Green (No. 52), Lemon Yellow (No. 40), Malachite (No. 50), Olive Green (No. 54), Raw Umber Deep (No. 47), Red (No. 32), Rose Madder (No. 34), Rose Madder Deep (No. 36), Sap Green (No. 53), Sap Green Deep (No. 58), Sap Green Light (No. 51),Turquoise Blue (No. 62), Turquoise Green Deep (No. 57), Ultramarine (No. 64), Ultramarine Pale (No. 61), Viridian (No. 55), White (No. 10), and Yellow Ochre (No. 44).

The pigmentation on these is fantastic and smooth. They blend together well and can get intense if concentrated enough, as well as watering down to nearly nothing. If you let them dry down in a mixing tray, they rewet easily and stay true to color.

    They also take salt well.

I've used these water colors a couple of times now. I really like them. I have only had cheaper water colors up until this point. I can tell a real difference with these. They are a more viberant color and I don't seem to have to use as much of the product to get a nice color. I'm excited to keep using them, but kind of wish I had waited for the larger number of colors. I can't justify getting the larger collection. I used the lid to paint each color with its corresponding number so I can know what color each paint is. Otherwise I wouldn't be able to tell what the darker colors are.

Best watercolors I've ever used! I used to use Windsor and Newton but these Kuretake are so much more vibrant and easier to build up. Overall I'm very happy with these and I won't be changing brands any time soon.
