Midori Yuru Log notebooks and accessories are designed to make journaling as fun and relaxing as possible. The name yuru (緩) comes from the Japanese word for "relax." It doesn't just mean relaxing from stress but also relaxing the rigid perfectionism that gets in the way of doing something new. Through playful use of soft colors and childlike imagery, the Yuru Log turns each blank page from an intimidating challenge into a warm, judgment-free invitation.

This pleasantly understated notebook features extra-thick Midori MD Paper, which is perfect for drawing with water-based inks, markers, and brush pens without bleedthrough. The beige cover has a linen-like texture, and the pages have a 2 mm graph sheet style.

Features:

  • 48 pages (24 sheets) of Midori MD Paper Thick.
  • 2 mm graph sheet style.
  • PUR glue binding.

This paper is absolutely gorgeous and I love it. However, the glue binding is VERY stiff. I have to use a lot of force to try to break it open so it will lie flat enough to write on, and I must press the pages down continually with my free hand to keep it that way. The small size of the notebook makes that extra difficult because there's not a lot of room around my writing hand to do that.

I really want to use this paper, but I can't make it my morning journal, because it turns out I'm not really awake enough first thing in the morning to wrestle with a journal that doesn't want to be written in. And I can't really use it for calligraphy practice because the paper isn't flat enough. So I'm often at a bit of a loss about what to do with it.

I think folks who love these notebooks must not mind this wrestling match as much as I do? It just really bothers me when my writing surface isn't flat.
