Imagine if you could enjoy a flight of fine writing paper the way you might enjoy a tasting of fine wines. With Yamamoto's paper tasting sets, you can do exactly that. Each set features three similar but distinctive papers, paired with informative descriptions of each one in both English and Japanese. Each paper comes in a pad of 25 sheets, so you have plenty of room to test all of your favorite pens and inks. The pads are held together with a handy reusable binder clip.
Smiley faces on the information sheet indicate whether different types of pens work very well, moderately well, or poorly on each paper.
This set includes three varieties of silky smooth paper: Yamamoto Bank Paper Takasago Premium (B7), Smooth Art Paper (A6), and Sheep Clouds Bond (B6).

This is a super cute...June 16, 2025This is a super cute way to try a whole bunch of different papers, especially if you're like me and rarely use an entire sheet. Although all of these paper types are grouped together under the "silky" category, they all have their own unique characteristics, interact with ink in fun ways, and really highlight the breadth of what's possible within just a single sheet texture!
Previous reviewers have raised...polite concerns about paper availability, but Yamamoto has always been a company that tries to archive the paper experience more than just providing a product, up to and including offering some of the only pads of the original Tomoe River now available anywhere in the world. If you're looking for a readily-available paper type that you can repeatedly buy, this might not be your product, but if you're just trying to explore possibilities outside the standard offerings for how you can use your fountain pen, Yamamoto's samplers are always unmatched. I highly recommend picking one up just to expand your personal opinions on what you like and don't like in a paper, especially since it might help as a point of reference for trying other paper types in the future.6 people found this helpfulAngela Ziegler -
Interesting paper, but...March 20, 2024Verified PurchaseInteresting paper, but the bank paper is the only one of these available outside of this sample set. What is the point of these if you can't buy these papers?5 people found this helpfulnedliug
