Hobonichi Techo A6 Planner, Original, and Original Avec

The Hobonichi Techo A6 is a compact page-per-day planner. For comparison, an A6 notebook is slightly larger than a 3.5” x 5.5” pocket notebook. Each planner includes a yearly index, monthly calendars, and fun reference pages in the back.

The English-language Planner has a textured black cover with techō (手帳) gold-foiled on the front. Its daily format is slightly different from the Original’s.

The Original books have cream-colored covers with logos printed in different colors so you can tell the difference between the various options. The Original comes in English, Japanese, or Simplified Chinese.

The Japanese Original Avec divides the year into two books. It’s a good option for journalers who love to collect photos and scraps of paper in their techō, or those who want a lightweight daily planner.

Towards the middle of the year, you can get a single July–December Avec book.

Hobonichi Techo A5 Cousin and Cousin Avec

The Hobonichi Techo English Cousin and Japanese Cousin.

The Cousin is the larger version of the Hobonichi Techo A6 Original. It’s about the same size as a hardcover book, and each page has twice as much space for writing as its smaller sibling.

The Cousin is unique because it has vertical hourly trackers at the beginning of the book. You can use them to help you plan for the entire week at a glance.

The Cousin is available in English or Japanese. You can tell them apart thanks to the logo colors on the fronts.

There’s also a Japanese Cousin Avec, which divides the year into half-year books. During the middle of the year, you can get a single July–December Avec.

Hobonichi Techo A6 and A5 HON

The HON has the same daily format as the A6 Original or A5 Cousin, but most have firm yet flexible covers similar to that of hardcover Weeks books. The HON is an excellent option for planner users who want a daily techō with a protective cover that’s less bulky than an exterior cover.

HON planners have two ribbon bookmarks and include clear pencil boards with pen loops.

The Japanese-language A6 HON uses the same pages as the Original One Piece Edition.

Hobonichi Techo Weeks and Weeks MEGA

The Weeks is Hobonichi’s weekly planner. All seven days of the week are printed on the left-side pages, while the right-side pages are gridded for notes and doodles. Though the book may look quite slim, the surface area of one page is nearly equal to that of the Techo A6.

The standard Weeks covers 58 weeks and includes memo pages in the back. Most Weeks planners include ribbon bookmarks and adhesive clear pockets that you can stick inside the covers.

The Weeks MEGA has all the same features as the Weeks, but it includes 213 memo pages. It’s a great choice for those who like to journal, draw, or brainstorm in their planners.

The 5-Year Techo will become a keepsake that you can look back on for years to come. It has a classy faux leather cover and a ribbon bookmark.

The left-hand page has spaces for the same day over five consecutive years, while the right side is a blank grid.

There are extra pages in the back that you can use to write down the best gifts you gave or received, addresses for close friends or emergency contacts, top ten lists, and your favorite things.

Hobonichi Techo A6 Cover Details

A6 Hobonichi Techo covers are available in a variety of designs.

Most A6 Covers include five card slots and a long pocket on the interior left side, one long pocket and a pocket flap on the interior right side, two ribbon bookmarks, and an exterior back pocket. The “butterfly-stopper” pen holders can be used to keep the cover shut when a pen is inserted in both holders.

Some covers have fewer pen loops, different bookmark charms, or no back pockets. Check the description for notes.

Each cover includes an A6 Original.

Hobonichi Techo A5 Cover Details

A5 Hobonichi Techo Cousin covers are available in many unique designs.

Like the A6 covers, Cousin covers are available in a variety of different designs. The “standard” format has five card pockets, two accessory pockets, and one long pocket on the interior left side. There’s one pocket flap on the interior right side, and an exterior pocket on the back.

The two bookmarks ribbons have a rectangular charm and triangular charm. Some covers may have slightly different features that are noted in the description.

Each cover includes an A5 English Cousin.

They’re printed with gray 3.7 mm grids to match perfectly with the A6 Original, A6 Original Avec, A6 HON, A5 Cousin, A5 Cousin Avec, and A5 HON. Perforations allow you to fold them so they don’t stick out from the edges of the planners.

The Card Case and Photo Album fit perfectly in the interior pockets of A6 Hobonichi covers. You can also put them in A5 covers.

The Card Case holds up to 32 cards (9 cm x 6.5 cm or smaller) in its eight double-pocketed clear sheets. It also has two large single pockets measuring 3” x 5” at the front and back. The Photo Album can store up to twenty 3” x 5” items in its ten pockets.

The Clear Cover on Cover is a protective, transparent plastic accessory. It must be placed on top of an external Hobonichi cover. A zipper opening in the back allows for easy access to the back pocket found on some covers, or to add postcards for decoration.

The Cover for Weeks goes directly on top of the Weeks’ sturdy cover. The Clear Cover has a pen loop and card pockets built in. You can punch out the marking flap on the inside front cover to use it as a bookmark. It doesn’t have a zipper opening in the back.

These clear covers don’t fit all A6, A5, Weeks, and Weeks MEGA covers. Check specific product page descriptions to see if your book cover is compatible. In general, book covers that are thicker than those found in the Colors lines won’t work with a clear cover. Additionally, book covers made of glossy material will “stick” and may get damaged.

Illustrated Cover on Cover and Illustrated Cover for Weeks

In addition to the Clear Cover on Cover, Hobonichi also makes Illustrated Cover on Covers that feature unique designs for each year. The A6 and A5 covers don’t have zippered pockets.

Some external covers are not compatible with Cover on Covers. Check specific product page descriptions to find out your planner’s compatibility with this accessory.

These index stickers make it easy to flip to the correct spot in your planner on the first try. They are great for looking back at specific dates or referencing certain topics in your notes. The index tabs fit neatly inside monthly tabs at the edge of the A6 Original, Original Avec, and HON, but they will also work well when paired with the Cousin and Weeks.

The numbered tabs match the monthly colors of the A6 Original and A5 Cousin, while some of the blank tabs feature Hobonichi’s monkey mascot.

The Page Keeper makes it easy to flip straight to the current date. The plastic card slips into the small pocket located on the Hobonichi Techo cover’s interior right side (some Techo covers do not have this pocket). The bright yellow elastic band can be stretched over the bottom right corner of the page you want to mark, or even be used to keep the entire cover shut.

To use the Page Keeper with the Hobonichi Techo Weeks, install the planner’s included sticker pocket in the bottom right corner of the inside back cover first.

The Paper(s) memo pad includes plenty of pages to write down notes. It’s the same size as the A6 Hobonichi Techo planner and can fit in an A6 cover, so you can reuse a cover from a previous year.

The sheets are blank with adorable illustrations at the bottoms, and they’re glued into the binding so you can tear them out neatly. The paper isn’t the same as that found in the planners, but it performs well with pencils, ballpoint pens, and gel pens.

A pencil board (also known as a shitajiki) can make a huge difference in your planner. Tomoe River S paper is thinner than typical paper, so writing may leave indentations on the page beneath. Pasting in tickets or putting things in cover pockets can push the pages up, which makes them difficult to write on.

A pencil board is a hard yet flexible surface that makes it easy to form neat letters on a packed planner. Hobonichi’s pencil board is made from Yupo, a synthetic paper that is tear proof and waterproof.

Match the size of the pencil board to your planner so that you have as much surface area to write on as possible.

Deco Rush Tapes

Use the Plus x Hobonichi Deco Rush to decorate planner pages and calendars. It works like a correction tape: flip back the protective flap and press the tape runner’s head against the paper. Firmly drag the runner to apply a strip of decorative tape.

Drawer Pouch

The Hobonichi Drawer Pouch is the perfect size to slip into a tote bag or purse and bring with you everywhere. When opened, it has three pockets on the left side. The zippered mesh pocket on the right side has an elastic band that can be used to hold pens. When closed, a large pocket on the back can be used to store items you reach for regularly.

The Drawer Pouch works well as a pen case, but it can also be used to store cosmetics, credit cards, and more.
